Michael Merino — Thu, 10/25/2007 - 02:52
“gustatus similis pullus,”
said the squirrel.
“know what that means?”
“yeah. tastes like chicken,”
i said.
“what tastes like chicken?”
he asked.
“well … uhm,
snake, turtle, frog,
various tetrapod, squirrel.”
“what?” said the squirrel indignantly.
“you mean, people eat squirrel?”
“some people do,”
i confessed.
“mostly hillbillies and canadians.”
“why would they eat squirrels
and not bunnies?”
“i don’t know ...
maybe ‘cause bunnies are cute?”
“are you saying that squirrels aren’t cute?”
begged the squirrel,
as he twitched his nose,
and flourished his tail.
answering honestly i said,
“not as cute as bunnies.
i mean, come on…
they’re bunnies.”
“i think we should
start seeing different rodents,”
said the squirrel.

Anonymous (not verified) — Tue, 04/15/2008 - 00:47The Latin is wrong. It should be Gustatus similis pullo, not pullus.
